Hourly, half-day or full-day chauffeur: which should you book?

Azur indicative rates, checked on 11 October 2026. Programme, vehicle, timing and conditions are confirmed by quote. The day reference here is eight hours, not 24 hours or unlimited mileage.

Two transfers may be enough for a simple return journey

Imagine a morning drop-off and a pickup at a known time that evening, with no need for the chauffeur in between. Ask for the price of those two rides. Buying eight hours of availability is not automatically useful just because your meetings occupy eight hours.

A schedule with several addresses, items to collect or an uncertain finishing time may justify a reserved time slot. In that case, you are buying agreed availability and coordination rather than simply adding rides together. Clarify what that availability covers and how you reconnect after each stop.

2, 4 or 8 hours: count the time slot, not only driving

Our table starts with a two-hour minimum, followed by four- and eight-hour references. The useful period includes stops and time on site during which the chauffeur is to remain available under the agreed programme. Forty minutes on the road plus several appointments is not forty minutes of service.

Specify where and when the booking starts and finishes. If pickup is in Nice and the final drop-off is in Monaco, ask for that exact arrangement to be quoted. Do not invent your own rule about the clock starting at the first kilometre or stopping at the last passenger; the offer needs explicit conditions.

An extra-hour rate is not a standalone one-hour booking

The €80 sedan or €110 van reference concerns an additional hour. It does not mean that an independent one-hour booking is offered at that price, or that four hours simply cost four times the extension rate. Compare the format matching your requested programme.

Ask about extra time before the slot ends. A chauffeur may have another commitment: a listed extension price does not guarantee the ability to continue. Confirm the added duration, price and billing terms before extending. Nor should you assume an automatic refund if your appointments finish early.

Mileage, waiting and expenses: the details that change a quote

Hourly offers do not all follow the same rules. SIXT ride and Blacklane's descriptions distinguish matters such as time, mileage and extensions. Those are their conditions; they do not define Azur Private Driver's offer.

Send the same programme when comparing quotes and check their scope. A lower amount may cover different hours, distance or arrangements. Ask us to specify the following before booking rather than assume they are all included or unlimited.

• Pickup, final drop-off and operating area.
• Planned mileage and treatment of excess distance or an out-of-area finish.
• Waiting between stops and extensions.
• Tolls, parking and any other expenses.
• Payment, any deposit, amendments and cancellation.

In Cannes and Monaco, an actual programme beats a list of places

In Cannes, separate airport arrival, hotel drop-off, a Palais meeting and pickup after an evening event. One airport transfer does not reserve a chauffeur across all those moments. Conversely, if meetings are at the same venue and fixed times, a series of transfers may still make sense.

In Monaco, send addresses in order: hotel, office, shoreside port meeting and return. Ask the local contact for the accessible entrance, especially during an event. The transitions and buffers between appointments determine a realistic time slot, not the prestige of the venues.

Delayed flights and events: agree when the service begins

Hourly hire starting at the airport needs the flight, terminal and an agreement about how delays affect the programme. Flight tracking alone does not define billing start time, included waiting or the treatment of a later appointment.

During the Film Festival, Grand Prix, MIPIM or Yacht Show, a normal reference price is not a guarantee. Confirm meeting points, road access, time and availability for the actual date. A chauffeur booking does not include tickets, accreditation or private access rights.

Send a programme that allows a precise answer

Identify fixed times and those that may move. When booking for someone else, distinguish the person accepting the quote from the traveller to contact on the day. Add passengers, luggage and requested equipment for confirmation with the vehicle.

A provisional programme may be enough to start a conversation, but flag what is missing. A WhatsApp message is an enquiry, not an accepted booking. Wait for the time slot, vehicle, price and conditions to be confirmed before organising other appointments around it.
